About

I've been an IB DP Examiner and Team Leader for Paper 1, the HL Essay, and Written Tasks for over 10 years. I direct quality assurance, train examiners, and adjudicate Enquiry Upon Results cases. I currently lead a unified Chinese, English, and Spanish Language & Literature department at Shen Wai International School.

I believe students develop critical and creative thinking through authentic learning experiences. That belief guides how I lead teams, design learning, and build resources.

That's why I launched The Lazily Efficient IB English Teacher, a free resource site at lazilyefficientibenglish.com. It collects everything I've built: unit planning tools, annotation rubrics, deconstruction frames, assessment scaffolds, and video walkthroughs. Every resource is designed to work together as a single, coherent system. Subscribe on YouTube at @thelazyefficientibenglishtea for the full walkthroughs.

As the first Subject Lead for a three‑language L&L department, I established the core curriculum, shared assessment protocols, and collaborative practices across Chinese, English, and Spanish programs. I developed a vertically aligned MYP–DP literary and non‑literary curriculum map, created a departmental assessment standardisation protocol, and built an MYP‑DP Analytical Continuum adopted across the department. I also founded the departmental L&L library, led professional development retreats on IB pedagogy, and designed teaching resources later produced as school‑branded materials.

Previously, I co‑coordinated the English department at Hong Kong Academy, led TOK at Discovery College, and taught MYP/DP L&L, Drama, and TOK in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Beyond the classroom, I mentor grade‑level students and perform at school events on vocals and drums.
